Caitlin Clark Makes History as Fever Stay Alive vs. Aces, Box Score Stats, Highlights for A'ja, More

Facing elimination in the best-of-three first-round series, the Fever downed the Las Vegas Aces 99-89 behind a historic performance from Caitlin Clark.

The Aces had control early, jumping out to an 11-point lead early in the second quarter, but a run fueled by Clark's scoring and passing helped Indiana trim the lead and eventually head into halftime up five.

Clark finished the first half with 14 points and 11 assists, making her the first player in WNBA history to record a double-double with points and assists in the first half of a playoff game.

The Fever kept their momentum heading into the second half and managed to jump ahead 72-60 heading into the final quarter. Indiana shut down Aces star A'ja Wilson in the third, allowing no points from the four-time MVP.

But the defending champs didn't go away after going down by double digits. With Jackie Young carrying the load on offense, Las Vegas cut the lead down to just five points halfway through the fourth quarter.

Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell responded to Young's run with one of their own, and it was quickly a double-digit lead once again for the Fever. Amid the run from Indiana, the Aces lost even more momentum when Wilson was assessed a technical foul after an interaction with a fan.

Indiana's offense took a blow when Clark fouled out with just under three minutes remaining, and the Aces made another late push to get back into it, trimming the lead to five points.

But Boston put the Fever back up seven, and a pair of free throws from Sophie Cunningham on the following possession extended the lead to nine with just over a minute to play.

It was ultimately too big a deficit for Las Vegas to overcome, and Indiana iced the game at the free-throw line.

After the win for the Fever, the first round will head back to Las Vegas, where the Aces will look to answer with a series-clinching win.
