Sports writer Jemele Hill was ecstatic for Angel Reese after her brilliant performance in Game 3 to help the Atlanta Dream advance to the WNBA Finals.
The Defensive Player of the Year scored 22 points and grabbed 9 boards, while also being an anchor on defence, blocking two shots against the New York Liberty. Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada also stepped up for the Dream, as they secured an 85-83 win on the night.
Playing in the playoffs for the first time in her career, Reese did not look intimidated and even got into a heated moment with Liberty's Jonquel Jones early in the game.
After her stellar performance, Hill, who has been a big supporter of Reese, took to X and posted a message for WNBA fans.
Jemele Hill asks WNBA fans to apologise to Angel Reese
Reese has been one of the most scrutinised WNBA stars since her arrival in the league. Despite being a former first-round pick, her game has been disrespected by many fans.
Her stint with the Chicago Sky specifically was criticised by many but after moving to Atlanta, things have improved for the 24-year-old.
After her big night against the Liberty, who had championship winners on the roster, Hill posted a message on X.
"Let the apologies be as loud as the disrespect. Whole 'lotta people owe Angel Reese an apology," Hill wrote on her X page.
Reese has been a major part of the Dream's run to the WNBA Finals. She has anchored the defence and also been influential in how the offence operates in Atlanta.
Her ability to defend at an elite level and rebound the ball are qualities that are extremely helpful in the playoffs. Now heading into her first WNBA Finals, Reese will be hoping to continue her good form and win her first championship to silence critics who have criticised her ability as a star in the league.
