Sparks fire head coach Lynne Roberts after 2 seasons

The Los Angeles Sparks have fired head coach Lynne Roberts, the team announced on Friday .

"We are grateful to Lynne for the commitment and determination she brought to the role, which was evident all the way through our last game last night" said Sparks special adviser Farhan Zaidi in a statement. "Lynne has cared deeply about our organization and for our players and their development. We sincerely thank her for everything she has invested in the Sparks and wish her and her family the best moving forward."

The move comes three weeks after Ariana Andonian was named as the franchise's newest general manager, replacing Raegan Pebley, who hired Roberts.

Roberts was hired in November 2024 and coached the Sparks for two seasons, leading the team to a 37-5 record. This past season, the Sparks finished 16-27 and failed to reach the WNBA playoffs for the sixth straight year.

Before being hired by the Sparks, Roberts coached the University of Utah women's team for nine-plus seasons, leading the Utes to the NCAA tournament three times.
