‘We don’t have time’ – USABWNT coach’s ice-cold response to A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum’s exit goes viral

The US women's basketball team for the 2026 FIBA World Cup will be without two familiar faces in A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum.

A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum's decision to sit out the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup has led to many doubting Team USA's chances of winning the gold medal.

However, USABWNT head coach Kara Lawson isn't worried. If anything, the coach has already moved on from her two veteran stars.

Kara Lawson says USABWNT doesn't have 'time' to waste on A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum

During a press conference before the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup kicks off, Lawson shared her honest reaction to Wilson and Plum's absence from Team USA.

"Both of them [Kelsey Plum included] obviously have been great players for us, and I'll miss being around them, but ultimately, we've kind of moved on," Lawson said.

She added, "… We don't have time to be worried about who's not here. We've got to really focus on ourselves."

Considering Wilson and Plum have been key members of Team USA in the last two editions of the tournament, many were shocked to hear Lawson's statement.

While Lawson has several talented players on the roster, she could have given a more measured response to her two veteran stars not being part of the team.
