The New York Knicks spent much of their offseason celebrating their first title in 53 years, but they now have to deal with the less desirable parts of having a championship-contending roster.

The Knicks and star center Karl-Anthony Towns have been back and forth on a new contract over the last few months, with the team reportedly offering him a $200 million deal, which is $77 million less than his max.

Towns recently outlined what he's looking for in a new deal and said , "None of those things are close to happening." When asked whether he thought it'd be easy to get a deal done after helping lead the Knicks to a title, Towns said, "No s--t, Sherlock. I just won a championship. You'd think it was pretty easy. Unless you guys think I have something else to prove."

The idea of Towns leaving the Knicks in June would have been unfathomable, but it appears to be at least an option at this point if negotiations don't improve, as ESPN's Shams Charania teased the possibility on Monday. If New York decides to trade its star big man, here are some potential landing spots.

The Washington Wizards appear to be a team on the rise in the East, but it's no secret that Anthony Davis might not be a long-term option in the frontcourt.

Davis told reporters last week that he'll decide on his player option after the 2026-27 campaign, so the Wizards could be in a tricky situation if he decides to enter free agency and leave Washington next summer.

With Davis not being fully committed to the future, the Wizards could consider trading him to New York in return for Towns, who might be on board with signing a long-term deal in Washington for the right price.

It would be a win-win for both teams, as the Knicks would get a center that could help them stay relevant, while the Wizards would get a player with championship experience to replace Davis.

Towns would also fit in well alongside Trae Young and top draft pick AJ Dybantsa.

Stephen Curry inked an extension with the Warriors that is $20 million less than what he was eligible for, and the front office now has the chance to reward him by building a championship-contending roster around him.

After missing out on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown this summer, Golden State could make a splash elsewhere by trading for Towns.

The biggest question mark in this scenario is whether the Warriors have the draft capital to land an All-Star big man like Towns. It's unclear if Jimmy Butler and/or Draymond Green would be involved, but Golden State's best package would likely include Kristaps Porziņģis and a handful of draft picks.

The Warriors might have to sacrifice their future a bit by trading picks, but it could be a worthwhile investment if it means getting one last title before the end of Curry's career.

As it stands now, the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to enter the 2026-27 campaign with the same core they had last year.

With a star center potentially on the trade block, the Cavs' front office should reconsider whether that's the right plan of attack.

Cleveland has been on the brink of competing for a title over the last few years, but continues to fall short. The addition of James Harden last year helped the Cavs reach the conference finals, but they ultimately didn't have enough to get over the hump.

The team is built around Donovan Mitchell, and that isn't going to change, but the Cavs could look into trading Evan Mobley for Towns or package Jarrett Allen with a handful of role players or picks.

The latter would probably be the more favorable option since Mobley is just 25 years old and is entering his prime.
