After a year away, Ben Simmons returned to the hardwood on Saturday.

Simmons, who last played in an NBA game in April 2025, made his preseason debut with the Sacramento Kings in a 111-106 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The veteran played very few minutes in his return as he looks to get back into the swing of things.

Simmons was an All-Star during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, but injuries began taking a toll on him. He missed all of the 2021-22 campaign and was a shell of himself when he returned to action with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2022-23 campaign.

He split time with the Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2024-25 season, putting up 5.0 points, 5.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game across 51 games.

Simmons then went unsigned for the 2025-26 campaign, but made it clear he was eyeing an eventual comeback.

He reportedly received interest from the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves but ultimately decided to sign with the Sacramento Kings on a one-year, $3.5 million deal.

Simmons might not return to All-Star form immediately, but he has the chance to make an impact on a team fully immersed in a rebuild this year.
