Angel Reese exchanges heated on-court moment with Lynx veteran during historic WNBA win

Angel Reese made WNBA history in the Atlanta Dream's 89-81 win over the Minnesota Lynx, but also got into it with one of her opponents.

Reese's 15 points and 11 rebounds in this win led to her 29th double-double of the season, the most in a single season in WNBA history.

However, the focus wasn't completely on her historic stats, but it was also on a heated second-quarter exchange she had with Lynx's Courtney Williams.

With under six minutes left in the second quarter, Reese got tangled up with Williams after a Lynx baseline double-team. The pair had to be separated, with some lip-reading fans claiming that Reese mocked Williams for being bald as they went their separate ways.

Reese has previously embraced her role as one of the Dream's on-court enforcers, so she was not going to let Williams get physical with her without facing the consequences of a slight tussle.

Both players went on with their performances, as Reese ended the night making history with her double-double, while also adding two assists, two steals, and a block.

Williams watched her Lynx fail to adequately neutralise the feisty Dream, as Courtney ended the game with 11 points (5-12 FG), three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Angel Reese's dream first season with Atlanta Dream

Reese is averaging 16.1 points and 12.4 rebounds this season, her first with the Dream after the Chicago Sky decided to trade her after just two seasons.

Players with Reese's potential often become cornerstone players for franchises, and the Dream will get that opportunity instead of the Sky after this acquisition.

It does not seem like Reese will ever be an offensive No. 1 option for a championship team, but a squad like the Dream, which has the players to do what she struggles at, is perfect for her future success.

She will be playing in the postseason, with the Dream's most likely first-round matchup right now looking like Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever.

A dream debut season would definitely include beating Clark's Fever and then making as deep a run as possible in the remaining rounds to establish their status as future contenders.
