LeBron James’ longtime business partner Maverick Carter clashes with ex Crystal Streets over daughter's child support

LeBron James’ longtime business partner and childhood friend Maverick Carter is facing a court battle with his ex-partner Crystal Streets over child support payments. Court documents show Carter has asked a judge to stop the $25,000 monthly payments he currently makes for their daughter.Carter says their 18-year-old daughter lives at a full-time boarding school, whose costs he pays in full. He argues that Streets has little “meaningful” custodial time because their daughter lives away at school. Streets disagrees and wants the payments to continue until their daughter graduates.Maverick Carter asks court to end $25K monthly child support paymentsAccording to court documents seen by TMZ, MaverickCarter is seeking to reduce his monthly child support obligation from $25,000 to $0. He says the request is not an attempt to avoid supporting his daughter. Instead, he argues that he pays directly for everything she needs.Carter’s legal team also pointed to the fact that their daughter turned 18 in July. He argued that the court no longer had jurisdiction over custody matters involving her after she reached adulthood.The businessman is represented in the case by high-profile family law attorney Laura Wasser.Streets has challenged Carter’s request. She claims Carter is worth more than $100 million and should continue paying support while their daughter finishes school.She has asked the court to increase the monthly payment to $35,000. Streets also claims that she and Carter agreed to the higher amount in 2024. However, she says the agreement was never finalized because of the California wildfires.Streets has also rejected Carter’s description of her role in their daughter’s life. She says she continues to provide emotional support and remains involved in her daughter’s day-to-day needs.According to the court documents, Streets says she also coordinates travel and provides for her daughter even though she is currently living at boarding school.The case also includes alleged emails between Carter and Streets. One email, dated December 28, 2025, appears to have been sent by Carter to his former partner.In the message, he allegedly wrote, “Dealing with you is the only thing bad about my life, and I’ll be soooo happy when it’s over.”The dispute came before a judge at a hearing on September 15. Streets argued that Carter’s child support payments should not be terminated.Carter disagreed and maintained his position that the payments should end.The court has not yet issued a final ruling on the dispute. For now, Carter’s child support obligations have been suspended for three months while the court considers the arguments made by both sides.The legal battle comes as Carter remains widely known for his longtime relationship with LeBron James.
