Shohei Ohtani Reaches Another HR Milestone, Latest Box Score Stats & Highlights from Dodgers-Rockies

When healthy, Shohei Ohtani is one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Turns out, he can do a little bit of hitting as well.

The Los Angeles Dodgers star launched a two-run homer in the third inning of Tuesday's contest against the Colorado Rockies. It was his 30th of the season and marked the sixth straight year he reached the milestone.

The Dodgers held on to defeat the Rockies 7-6 with Tanner Scott getting the save one day after Edwin Díaz, who was placed on the IL before Tuesday's game, got hit around again.

Ohtani's Dodgers (76-51) are still a comfortable eight games ahead of the San Diego Padres in the National League West, but they are just 7-10 in August even after winning the first two games in Colorado.

They surely want to bounce back and hit their stride before the playoffs, and the future Hall of Famer continuing to hit at such a level is an important part of that. In fact, it is even more important because he hasn't pitched since July 3 because of injury concerns.

The lack of pitching means his impact is limited to his bat.

Fortunately for the Dodgers, it is arguably the best one in the league.

The two-way star has four MVPs and four Silver Sluggers on his illustrious resume. This is his third year with the Dodgers, and all he did in each of his first two was help lead the team to a World Series title as the National League MVP.

He led the league in home runs in back-to-back years in 2023 (44) and 2024 (54) and then launched a career-high 55 long balls last season. While he likely won't reach that 55 mark in 2026 barring an incredible closing stretch, he has still shown off his incredible power with 30.

Ohtani also hit two home runs in Los Angeles' victory over the Rockies on Monday as he battles Chicago Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong for this year's NL MVP.

A few more swings like the one he unleashed Tuesday could provide him just the boost he needs in that race.
