After a tremendous showing in the American League Championship that included two wins on the mound, Freddy Peralta is the MVP of the series.

Peralta helped the Tampa Bay Rays win their first pennant since 2020, beating the Cleveland Guardians in six games.

Peralta got the start in Game 2 and had a shutdown performance, going six innings and giving up four hits and no runs while collecting six strikeouts. He came in as a reliever in Game 4 for just 0.2 innings, but got the Rays out of the jam, and they went on to win 7-3.

On Monday, Peralta pitched 5.1 innings, giving up five hits and a run but picking up three strikeouts to earn the win.

Peralta started the season with the New York Mets and struggled through the first half of the year, recording a 5-9 record with a 4.99 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP in 22 starts.

He was on track for the worst season of his career when the Mets traded him to the Rays ahead of the deadline.

Peralta turned things around in Tampa Bay, notching a 5-2 record with a 3.25 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 10 starts. When the postseason started, he reached a new level and helped the Rays get past the New York Yankees and Guardians.

Now, Peralta will go against the Milwaukee Brewers, the team he made his debut with in 2018 and spent eight years with. There will surely be some emotions as Peralta returns to Milwaukee, but he has his eyes set on delivering the Rays their first World Series title.
