Yankees Beat Red Sox, Box Score Stats, Highlights & Updated Bracket After 2026 MLB Wild Card Game 1

Led by stellar performances from Cam Schlittler and Ben Rice, the New York Yankees secured a 9-0 win over the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of their American League Wild Card matchup on Tuesday night.

Schlittler threw a career-high 117 pitches across 6.1 scoreless innings and Rice hit two home runs as New York took a 1-0 series lead.

After a scoreless first inning for both teams, Yankees catcher Austin Wells gave his squad a 1-0 lead with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the second.

New York struck again in the bottom of the fifth, as Ben Rice launched a solo home run to center field.

Rice came through for the Yankees once again in the bottom of the seventh, hitting a bases-loaded single that extended his team's advantage to 3-0.

New York scored once more in the frame as Luis García Jr. grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and no outs.

The Yankees broke the game open in the following inning, as Lombard scored on a sacrifice fly by Wells before Rice hit a grand slam.

The Red Sox struggled to match New York's output, as they finished with just three hits as a team. Boston only had one runner in scoring position throughout the entire contest as well.

Game 2 between the Yankees and Red Sox starts on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
