Cam Schlittler Makes History, Final Box Score Stats, Highlights From Yankees' Game 1 Win vs. Red Sox

Cam Schlittler's second postseason got off to a strong start on Tuesday.

The New York Yankees star ace had a tremendous outing against the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card round, pitching 6.1 innings and keeping the Red Sox off the board before coming out in the seventh inning.

Schlittler's 117 pitches mark a new career high, with his previous career high of 107 pitches also coming against the Red Sox in last year's wild-card series. As New York and Boston fans likely remember, Schlittler recorded 12 strikeouts while pitching through the eighth inning against the Red Sox last October.

The Yankees are hoping to get even more performances like Tuesday's later on in the postseason following a tremendous campaign from the young star.

Schlittler, 25, is more than likely going to take home his first Cy Young Award this year after recording a 14-6 record with the second-best ERA in baseball (1.95), the third-most strikeouts (239) and the fourth-best WHIP (0.92).

The dominant showing on Tuesday came after Schlittler issued a warning to Red Sox fans earlier this week after seeing trash talk online ahead of the series.

"I wouldn't say I'm always on my phone looking for that stuff. At the same time, I don't really live under a rock as well," Schlittler told reporters on Monday. "Found ways to use that to my advantage. I think I'm good at keeping receipts."

Clearly, Schlittler let those "receipts" fuel a shutdown performance against the Yankees' division rival on Tuesday.
