Giancarlo Stanton Gives Injury Update After Being Named to Yankees' MLB Wild Card Roster vs. Red Sox

New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton confirmed that he'll be available as a pinch hitter during the team's American League Wild Card Series clash with the Boston Red Sox.

"Ready to go," Stanton told Jon Heyman of the New York Post . "I'll help the team any way I can. It's the most exciting time of the year."

While Stanton hasn't appeared in a game since April 24 due to calf issues, he was included as part of the Yankees' 26-man roster for the Wild Card round.

The five-time All-Star initially suffered a right calf strain before experiencing multiple setbacks throughout his rehab, which included a strain of his left calf.

Stanton has continued to deal with injuries in recent years, appearing in just 101 of a possible 324 regular-season contests since the start of his 2025 campaign.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was impressed with the 36-year-old's recovery from his latest health woes, though.

"This has obviously been a trying year for him on the injury front, having a couple of setbacks along the way," Boone said, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch . "He's never stopped going and stopped grinding, even through some tough moments.

"This is a unique series in that we feel like we're able to go heavy on the position player front. There's an avenue for him for an at-bat, some interchangeable parts there. So credit to him for putting himself in position to be an option."

Despite Stanton's availability concerns, he's consistently stepped up for the Yankees during the playoffs.

In 48 career postseason games, he owns a .254/.322/.605 slash line with eight doubles and 18 home runs. He also earned ALCS MVP honors for New York in 2024.

While Yankees star Aaron Judge wasn't included on their Wild Card roster as he continues to work his way back from his own calf issue , Stanton is available for the Bronx Bombers.
