Milwaukee Brewers aim to complete World Series sweep over Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4
The Milwaukee Brewers look to complete a World Series sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 after winning eight straight postseason games.
I wrote yesterday about how this season was over, and after the drubbing that Milwaukee put on Tampa, it seems almost certain. How certain does it seem? There are people out there saying that the Brewers are cheating. That's how dominant this team has been in the past few games. Tonight marks Game 4 of the World Series, and after getting a win yesterday, let's try to take one more unit this season. The Milwaukee Brewers are unreal. The team is up 3-0 in the World Series, and they've won eight straight postseason games. Overall, the team is 10-1 in the postseason, and the lone loss was by just one run. If you want to find any "flaw" for the team, it might be that they are only winning by one run in about half of the games. That doesn't leave much room for error, but when your team doesn't have any errors, it really doesn't matter. The Brewers broke out the bats yesterday and left nothing to chance last night. The Brewers have not announced a starter for tonight's game, which means they are likely to go with some sort of opener or a bullpen game. I would assume they will start Dustin May, but it's possible they go a different direction. Maybe they will send out Jacob Misiorowski. He threw in Game 1 on Friday, so it would be a bit of a short rest. Either way, the team is set to potentially win their first World Series title ever. If they don't go with a starter today, their bullpen has covered more than half of the innings in the postseason, and they have an ERA under 1.50 for the playoffs. BREWERS RALLY PAST CHAOTIC LATE-GAME REPLAY, PREMATURE CELEBRATIONS TO WIN FIRST WORLD SERIES GAME IN 44 YEARS The Tampa Bay Rays are done. Is it this game? Maybe, but maybe not. Either way, the team is done. They aren't going to beat the Brewers four games in a row. At this point, their winning one or two games would seem like a miracle. They gave up eight runs in the fifth inning last night, and it just felt like one of those times when the Rays had to be praying for any sort of stop to end the inning. By the time it was over, the Rays were down 10-0. They scored a meaningless run late in the game. In an effort to keep their season alive, the team is turning to Griffin Jax. It feels like they may be waving the white flag, but there really isn't a better option for Tampa in this one. In the regular season, Jax went 8-10 with a 3.53 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. The numbers were both solid, and he is a big reason the Rays are here for the season. However, in the postseason, he has thrown six innings and allowed four earned runs. This is his first appearance in 12 days. RAYS' CHANDLER SIMPSON CRASHES FACE FIRST INTO WALL WHILE MAKING INCREDIBLE CATCH IN WORLD SERIES VS BREWERS Jax faced the Brewers earlier this season when he was working out of the bullpen. He was fine in his first appearance, going one inning and allowing no runners. In the second game, though, he was rocked. He allowed five runs, three earned, on three hits and one walk, without recording an out. I'm not really sure what the Rays can do differently to keep this season alive.
