The Cleveland Guardians kept their season alive with a 9-3 win over the Chicago White Sox in Game 3 of the American League Division Series, forcing a decisive Game 4.

With a chance to seal the series win, No. 6 Chicago entered the matchup as 1.5-point favorites over Cleveland on Wednesday, per FanDuel Sportsbook , but crumbled under pressure at Rate Field in Chicago.

With their backs against the wall, the No. 2 Guardians turned to Jo Adell and Jose Ramirez, who combined for five RBIs after Cleveland dropped the first two games of the series at home.

The pitching staff also more than did their part with a historic performance:

No. 6 Chicago White Sox def. No. 3 Houston Astros, 2-0

No. 4 New York Yankees def. No. 5 Boston Red Sox, 2-0

No. 3 Atlanta Braves def. No. 6 Philadelphia Phillies, 2-1

No. 4 San Diego Padres def. No. 5 Chicago Cubs, 2-0

No. 6 Chicago White Sox lead No. 2 Cleveland Guardians, 2-1

No. 1 Tampa Bay Rays lead No. 4 New York Yankees, 2-0

No. 2 Los Angeles Dodgers lead No. 3 Atlanta Braves, 2-1

No. 1 Milwaukee Brewers lead No. 4 San Diego Padres, 2-1

Despite a strong start for the White Sox, forcing the Guardians to go down in order in the top of the first and scoring a quick run on a Kyle Teel RBI in the bottom, the game did a 180 in the top of the third with a four-run inning for the Guardians.

Steven Kwan brought in Travis Bazzana to tie it 1-1, prompting a pitching change for the Sox. Jo Adell tripled deep to right, bringing in three RBIs and giving the Guardians a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third.

Chicago's Tristan Peters attempted to chip away at the Guardians' lead with a double that scored Chase Meidroth, cutting the deficit to 4-2 after four innings

Chase DeLauter answered for the Guardians, driving in Jose Ramirez with an RBI in the next inning. Ramirez scored with an impressive slide into home, restoring Cleveland's three-run lead.

The Guardians turned offense into defense in the bottom of the fifth, turning a double play with two runners in scoring position to escape the inning.

The bases were loaded with two outs when Chicago's Sam Antonacci stepped to the plate. The designated hitter was hit by a pitch, forcing in Braden Montgomery and cutting the Guardians' lead to 5-3.

Miguel Vargas faced a full count with the bases loaded before grounding out to Ramirez, allowing the Guardians to escape what could have been a disastrous inning while giving up just one run.

Cleveland added two runs in the top of the eighth on a Ramirez triple that drove in Bazzana and Patrick Bailey to take a 7-3 lead.

The Guardians showed they were not ready to end their season yet, adding two insurance runs in the top of the ninth as Angel Genao and Brayan Rocchio got in on the offensive action with an RBI each, forcing the White Sox to face three more outs with a six-run deficit.

The White Sox were unable to overcome the deficit, going down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Surviving elimination, the Guardians and White Sox will remain in Chicago for Game 4, as the White Sox get another chance to put Cleveland away. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
