Ketel Marte Will Rejoin D-Backs for Phillies Series After Stints on Injured, Restricted Lists

The Arizona Diamondbacks are activating three-time All-Star Ketel Marte, according to MLB insider Francys Romero and the New York Post 's Jon Heyman .

Marte hasn't suited up for Arizona since a 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 16.

The Diamondbacks are opening a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.

They initially placed Marte on the restricted list after he failed to report at Fenway Park prior to their series opener with the Boston Red Sox on Aug. 17.

"It's been a crazy day," manager Torey Lovullo told reporters at the time. "All I know is that he's dealing with a personal issue. We're trying to figure that out, and he didn't show up today and he was put on the restricted list. That's as much as I know right now. I just was doing my best to reach out to him, and there was very little coming back."

Marte's agent, Charisse Espinosa-Dash, said two days later he was also dealing with a knee issue, with Arizona shifting him to the 10-day injured list.

The story took another turn when fans spotted the veteran infielder at the Talking Stick Resort casino. Lovullo downplayed the significance because Marte had been doing his required work at the Diamondbacks' training facility in Scottsdale.

The Diamondbacks are second in the National League West at 73-65. While they're unlikely to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers and win the division, they have a half-game cushion on the San Diego Padres for the final wild-card spot.

A healthy Marte could help Arizona secure a playoff berth, though his 2026 performance has been below his usual standards. He has a .249/.314/.446 slash line and 21 home runs through 118 games.
