With the 2026 MLB season coming to an end, the award season is underway. On Sunday, MLB announced the 20 recipients of the Gold Glove awards, with a number of big names and new faces taking home the hardware.

The Gold Glove, which honors the best defensive players in the league, is handed out to one player for each position in the two leagues. This year's honorees included nine first-time winners, nearly half of the total field.

Pete Crow-Armstrong got his offseason started with his second Gold Glove in two seasons. The Chicago Cubs center fielder, who took home his first Gold Glove honor last year, won again after putting up one of the best defensive seasons in baseball.

Crow-Armstrong's dominant batting and 40-40 season have made him a strong NL MVP candidate, but he took home another piece of hardware first.

Crow-Armstrong's Cubs teammate Alex Bregman, who signed with Chicago last offseason , also earned the honor for the second time in his career.

The Cubs were tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for the most Gold Glove nominees with five, though only Crow-Armstrong and Bregman ended up with wins. In an interview on the ESPN broadcast for the award, Bregman spoke about Chicago's commitment to defense.

"I know our team takes a lot of pride in defense, and it's pretty awesome to be on the field with a bunch of guys that care about the little details of the game," Bregman said.

The Milwaukee Brewers, coming off their World Series-winning run , had two players represented among the winners: left fielder Jackson Chourio and second baseman Brice Turang. Chourio, who had a shot at World Series MVP , earned his first Gold Glove award by beating out Chicago's Ian Happ, who had won the award for four straight seasons.

The best-represented teams were the Boston Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks, who finished with three of the defensive awards each. Red Sox right fielder Wilyer Abreu took home his third straight Gold Glove after another dominant season.

There were some surprising snubs as well, though: Toronto, despite having five nominees, didn't take home any of the awards after a pretty mediocre season. Neither did the Kansas City Royals, whose four nominees included players like first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.
