Pope Leo XIV Receives Custom Papal White Sox Hat in New Photo from Vatican

The Chicago White Sox posted a photo Thursday of Pope Leo XIV posing at the Vatican with a White Sox pope hat.

On Aug. 11, the White Sox hosted the Cincinnati Reds at Rate Field, and they distributed White Sox pope hats to all 38,113 fans in attendance as part of a giveaway .

Pope Leo XIV was born in Chicago, and he is a longtime fan of the White Sox, as evidenced by the fact that he attended Game 1 of the 2005 World Series.

The White Sox went on to win that game 5-3, and they swept the Houston Astros to win the third World Series title in franchise history.
