Aaron Judge believes New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler is pitching at a Cy Young level.

In fact, he even believes he's pitching at an AL MVP level, as he told reporters on Sunday:

Schlittler, 25, is 14-6 this season with a 1.95 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 228 strikeouts in 184.2 innings. Winning his first AL Cy Young is probably a foregone conclusion at this point (with apologies to Dylan Cease), but some people within the Yankees believe he deserves even more.

"I think valuable is a good word," manager Aaron Boone told reporters . "He might be the MVP too. I mean, he's been awesome. Just an awesome season."

Schlittler called those remarks "a great compliment" but didn't go into more depth on the conversation. Were he to win MVP he would be the first pitcher to do so since Clayton Kershaw won NL MVP in 2014.

Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez remains the most likely choice for AL MVP, hitting .310 this season with 38 homers, 96 RBI, 95 runs and a 1.016 OPS. But Schlittler has at least made it an interesting conversation.
