The San Diego Padres wrapped up a lopsided 8-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of their National League Wild Card Series clash on Tuesday.

Padres stars Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado combined for four hits and two home runs in the blowout win.

San Diego set the tone early on Tuesday night, as Tatis hit a home run on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the opening frame.

The Padres weren't finished, as Machado launched a solo homer of his own to give his team a 2-0 advantage heading into the second inning.

The Cubs couldn't respond before San Diego's star duo struck again, as Machado drove in Tatis with his RBI double in the bottom of the third.

The Padres continued to showcase their power at the plate in the fourth with Xander Bogaerts' solo shot.

In the fifth frame, San Diego loaded the bases with two outs before Jackson Merrill drove in a pair of runs with a single.

The Padres extended their lead to 7-0 in the same inning after Ty France scored on a passed ball.

San Diego's final run of the night came in the bottom of the seventh, as Tatis attempted to steal second base before eventually coming around to score following a throwing error by Chicago.

Padres starter Michael King thrived in the win, as he recorded a no-hitter through six innings before ultimately allowing one hit in seven innings of work.

The Cubs couldn't find any rhythm offensively, recording a mere three hits as a team while finishing 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Game 2 of the NL Wild Card clash will begin on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
