MLB Draft Lottery 2027 Odds Revealed for Mets, More After Regular Season Ends

The New York Mets may have fallen massively short of expectations in 2026, but at least they have a chance to replenish their farm system in next year's draft.

The Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels and Athletics are the three teams at the top of the lottery odds. They have a 19.1 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick and are 87.6 percent on for staying in the top six.

The Mets are long shots for the first pick but should at least hang around the top six:

The 2026 draft opened with a pair of shortstops: UCLA's Roch Cholowsky and prep prospect Grady Emerson. Next year could be a similar story.

In his early projections for 2027, MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo led off with high schooler Dylan Seward and Florida star Brendan Lawson. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report mocked Seward at No. 2 behind Mississippi State pitcher Tomas Valincius. Lawson went fourth overall.

Reuter called Seward "a quick-twitch athlete with top-of-the-scale speed, advanced bat-to-ball skills and elite bat speed to generate some playable power even with a 6'0", 175-pound frame."

Whoever lands the No. 1 pick may prefer a more polished prospect, much as the White Sox did with Cholowsky.

Lawson had a .511 on-base percentage and slugged .699 with the Gators in 2026. His homer total nearly doubled, going from 10 as a freshman to 19.

Valincius, who transferred to the Bulldogs from Virginia, went 11-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 17 starts. He struck out 134 batters in 97.2 innings. More of the same in 2027 will make him the best pitcher in the class.
