Milwaukee Brewers: 3 players that must stay hot for October MLB Postseason run

The Milwaukee Brewers finished the 2026 MLB regular season with the best record in baseball for the second year in a row. Their 103-59 mark gave them a fourth consecutive National League Central Division title, a division they won by 14 games this year, and has them sitting as the number one seed in the postseason.

As such, the Brewers have this week off before the start of the National League Division Series on Saturday. They will play the winner of the Wild Card Series between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres . Last night, San Diego won the first game 8-0 and could eliminate Chicago from the postseason as early as tonight.

3 Milwaukee Brewers players that must stay hot no matter what opponent they face

There are many Brewers fans who, while delighted to see the hated Cubs lose so emphatically, are not exactly thrilled about the prospect of facing the red-hot Padres. Indeed, San Diego has been the best team in baseball for about a month, and there is a fear that they could knock Milwaukee out early.

In order to be the best, though, a team has to beat the best. The Brewers have everything they need to beat anyone, including San Diego. That being said, these three players continuing their brilliant play from September would go a long way to ensuring that happens.

Playing just his third MLB season, Jackson Chourio is already tied for the franchise record in career postseason home runs. Clearly, Milwaukee would love to see that trend continue in the NLDS and beyond.

Chourio has certainly set himself up for a strong showing the playoffs. He ended the 2026 season by hitting .337/.389/.531 with five home runs, 18 RBI, and nine stolen bases in September. That is certainly the kind of production in October, too.

Overall, Chourio hit .291/.351/.487 with 25 home runs, 75 RBI, 23 stolen bases, and 96 runs scored. What is so amazing about these numbers is that he missed the first month of the year with a hairline fracture in his left hand.

If he can continue his hot streak in the postseason, it will be hard to count the Brewers out of any playoff series.

Following the All-Star Break, catcher William Contreras went through a prolonged slump at the plate that saw him dropped in the batting order. While Milwaukee kept winning games, their offense was not as productive. This past month, though, saw Contreras hit .263/.330/.513 with five home runs and 24 RBI.

While his batting average and on-base percentage were lower than his overall season marks (.270/.341/.417), his OPS was almost 100 points higher. This is because his 10 extra base hits in September tied for the most he had in any month this season (he also had 10 in April).

The Brewers will certainly need him driving him runs in the middle of the order if they are to make a deep run again this year.

After a career year in 2025, Brice Turang was even better in 2026 hitting .268/.366/.450 with career highs in home runs (21), RBI (100), and runs (102).

These final numbers are all the more impressive considering that he hit .175/.266/.247 in August.

A strong September, though, put Turang back on track and he is carrying some great momentum going into the postseason. This past month, he hit .361/.475/.602 with four home runs and 22 RBI.

The Brewers will hope that kind of production continues at the top of their lineup this October.
