MLB fans have no sympathy for Mets as Pete Alonso slams 300th career home run at Citi Field

Things have gone from bad to worse for the New York Mets . After the Baltimore Orioles knocked them out of playoff contention, now their own former star has reached a milestone against them.

Fans of the New York Mets might genuinely be the strongest people in all of sports. The team is currently experiencing another disappointing MLB regular season.

Despite having names like Juan Soto , Bo Bichette , and Francisco Lindor on the payroll, the Mets have failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Now, Pete Alonso has returned to his old stomping grounds at Citi Field. And true to form, the 2025 Silver Slugger Award winner has reached a major career landmark against the Mets.

Playing against the Mets on Tuesday night, Alonso hit his first home run as a visiting player at Citi Field. With his team trailing 2-3, Alonso smashed one out of the park to tie the score up at 3-3.

The Orioles went on to win 7-5. The homer was Alonso's 124th at the ballpark, he hit 123 for the Mets there before this one. Despite their former legend hitting his 300th home run against New York, other fans had no sympathy for the Mets.

"The Mets franchise is a complete disgrace," wrote one fan. "Could there have been a more fitting venue for Alonso to reach this milestone?" another fan questioned.

"It's sad to see that Mets fans are cheering for Pete hitting a nuke while wearing a different jersey," a third fan commented. "Man, that was the biggest **** you to Stearns," another added.

"The Mets need to feel real shame at this very moment," claimed a fifth fan. "Good for you Pete. Mets organization deserves this," said a sixth comment.

For Mets fans who are already suffering, this was an unnecessary further blow to their mood. They will have an entire offseason to lick their wounds and hope somehow for a better year in 2027.
