The Gwinnett Stripers, a Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, held a unique first pitch ceremony ahead of a game on Tuesday.

A rescue kitten called "ChipPurr Jones," named after Braves legend Chipper Jones, helped deliver the first pitch in a viral video posted on X.

The first pitch was part of the Stripers' "Purr in the Park" night, as the team also hosted a pet supply donation drive at Gwinnett Field (h/t MLB.com's Jesse Borek ).

The club adopted the cat in late August after it was stuck in traffic, asking for name suggestions from fans on social media before ChipPurr Jones was eventually chosen.

It's easy to see why the name was picked, as Chipper established himself as a franchise icon during his Hall of Fame career on the Braves from 1993 through 2012.

Jones earned eight All-Star nods, one National League MVP award and one World Series title throughout his tenure with the club. He sits at No. 2 on Atlanta's all-time hits list and No. 3 on the team's all-time home runs leaderboard.
