The Milwaukee Brewers took a 2-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2026 World Series on Saturday night.

While those two teams are playing for the Commissioner's Cup and a shot at baseball immortality, the rest of MLB is considering moves, including trades, to help their teams reach the pinnacle of the sport next season.

What is the latest from around the league? Find out in this collection of insider reports from some of the game's most trusted insiders.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported on what may be a busy offseason for the Marlins this winter.

He wrote, ""Though the Marlins aren't believed to be shopping (Otto) Lopez or (Xavier) Edwards, neither player is considered untouchable. If a team is willing to offer a lot in return, Miami would listen."

Lopez was among the best hitters in the game this season, leading MLB with 191 hits and delivering a .305 batting average. He was still not a power hitter by any means, with just 11 home runs and 71 RBI, but he put the ball in play and got on base, making him an attractive piece to any big-league team looking for an offensive spark.

Edwards was worth three wins above average while hitting .280, with six home runs and 52 RBI.

Both are young (28 and 27, respectively) and have plenty of upside, so it is not particularly surprising that the Marlins would listen to offers from teams that would be interested in acquiring them.

Of course, Miami was on the cusp of playoff contention at times in 2026 and could look to beef up their roster, too, instead of subtracting from it.

Jackson wrote, "The Marlins would look to add established players making in the $10 million to $15 million range through either free agency or through trades. Miami is open to trading some of their good prospects, but not their top prospects."

An organization that has proven effective at developing young talent for other teams to come in and trade for or sign in free agency, it is not surprising that they would not look to give up their best prospects in the name of a trade for a more established player or two.

Still, adding a player who can produce offensively and is not a liability on the diamond or in the outfield could be the difference between another frustrating campaign in South Beach and a trip back to the playoffs, where they have not been since 2023.

Another disappointing Guardians playoff exit reignites questions about Steven Kwan's time in Cleveland and whether it may be coming to an end.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that a Kwan trade is back on the table following an ALCS loss.

Like Lopez in Miami, Kwan was one of the better hitters in baseball this past season, exploding out of an early-year slump and becoming one of the driving forces behind Cleveland's re-emergence in the playoff picture.

The 29-year-old hit .282, with 32 RBI, three home runs, and 10 stolen bases. His career-high on-base percentage (.382) was key to helping the Guardians perform down the stretch and return to the playoffs.

Kwan is under team control for one more season before hitting the free agency market in 2028.

While the Guardians may be keen on finding a trade partner in hopes of maximizing their returns for Kwan, the team's playoff window will inevitably close, and getting rid of a prolific hitter who can put the team in scoring position every time he heads to the plate may expedite the process.

The team has consistently gotten close to a return to the World Series for the first time since 2016. Attempting to get over the hump and do so without Kwan would make the task that much more difficult to achieve.

Especially without a guarantee of a player who can get himself or the team into scoring position as consistently and effectively as Kwan.
