Brewers Make MLB History in 22-0 Win vs. Mariners, Final Box Score Stats and Highlights from Shutout

The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in baseball, and they show no signs of cooling off as the postseason nears.

On Tuesday, the Brewers beat the Seattle Mariners 22-0, tying the largest shutout win since the start of 1888. It's the largest shutout since Cleveland beat the New York Yankees by the same score.

Milwaukee didn't exactly get off to a hot start, as it scored just one run through the first four innings, and it came on an error. The offense exploded in the fifth inning, however.

Jackson Chourio hit an RBI single, William Contreras hit a sac fly and Christian Yelich delivered a three-run homer to make it a 6-0 lead.

David Hamilton opened up the sixth inning with a three-run homer, and Jake Bauers tacked on two more runs with another home run to increase the lead to 11 runs.

Hamilton delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh before another run scored on a fielder's choice. Things got even more out of hand in the eighth when Luis Lara hit a three-run home run to make it 16-0. It was the first homer of his career.

The Brewers tacked on six more runs in the eighth to get to 22 runs.

On the mound, Milwaukee's Kyle Harrison picked up the win after striking out eight and giving up just two hits in five innings. Seattle's Bryce Miller was credited with the loss as he allowed six runs and a home run.

The Mariners went to Josh Simpson in the fifth inning and Nick Davila in the sixth and seventh innings before waiving the white flag and putting third basemen Leo Rivas on the mound in the eighth.

The Brewers are sitting comfortably at 78-48 and are on their way to finishing with the best record in baseball. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday, and Seattle can only hope things go differently in the second game of the series.
