The end of the MLB regular season is just weeks away, and teams are fighting hard to secure their postseason spot.

Some teams are sitting comfortably at this point in the year, while others still have work to do. Here's a look at how things look heading into this week.

Yankees star pitcher on wrong side of history

Sunday was decisive for one team, as the Colorado Rockies became the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the St. Louis Cardinals.

There isn't too much drama in the AL East as the Rays have just about secured the divisional crown. The Yankees and Red Sox are essentially locks to make the postseason, meaning the Blue Jays are the team to watch in the division. Toronto would need a strong finish to get back into the playoffs, but it's far from impossible.

The White Sox are likely postseason-bound but will need to continue fending off the Guardians for the AL Central title. Those two will face off next week in a series that could have plenty of implications.

The Astros have had a good stretch as of late that has helped them increase their lead in the AL West, though the Rangers aren't out of the race just yet, and the Mariners are technically within striking distance.

There's far less drama in the National League, where the Braves, Phillies, Brewers, Cubs and Dodgers have all virtually secured a postseason spot. The biggest race to watch is between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres for the final wild-card spot.
