SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Cardinals will soon have a new name.

The organization announced Tuesday that it will rebrand following the 2026 Minor League Baseball season, ending more than two decades under the Springfield Cardinals name.

Beginning in 2027, the team will have a new name, logos and uniforms. The franchise will remain in Springfield, continue playing at Route 66 Stadium and remain the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals .

The new identity has already been selected, according to the team, but fans will have to wait a little longer to find out what it is.

The organization plans to unveil the new name, logos and uniforms during a free launch party at Route 66 Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Additional details will be announced later.

The Springfield Cardinals have played in the city since 2005. The organization said the change intended to give the team an identity more closely connected to Springfield and southwest Missouri.
