Watch: Crane collapses at Mumbai port, 2 operators hurt

MUMBAI: A crane collapsed during a lifting operation at the BPS terminal of city port on Sunday evening, leaving two crane operators injured.The incident occurred around 7.30 pm when 140 metric tonnes of cargo was being unloaded from the Barbados-flagged vessel Vienna using two cranes.During the operation, a lifting strap slipped due to an imbalance, shifting the entire load onto the other crane.The crane was lifted off the ground and its telescopic boom struck the vessel, resulting in friction and a fire. The Mumbai Port fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the blaze.Crane operators Ranjeetsingh and Nishant Singh, were injured and taken to St George Hospital for treatment.
