Channel Islands' Christmas Lottery tickets go on sale
The Channel Islands' lottery, which raises money for charity, has a guaranteed top prize of £300k.
Tickets for the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery have gone on sale with a "guaranteed top prize of £300,000 that will increase as sales grow", organisers have said.
Jointly run by the States of Guernsey and Government of Jersey, the lottery has returned for its 51st year with the main draw set to take place in Guernsey on 17 December.
Organisers said the lottery had raised "tens of millions" for charities in the islands since it started in 1975.
The winning ticket in 2025 went to a Jersey ticket holder for the second year in a row, even though ticket sales were higher in Guernsey .
Head of lottery Jon Taylor said every pound raised after prizes and costs "continues to support worthy causes across our communities".
"We are proud that the lottery continues to contribute so much to charity and good causes that benefit the islands," he said.
Last year's jackpot was £493,320 but it was £1.1m a decade ago.
Taylor previously said falling jackpot sizes did not mean people had stopped playing, but instead reflected changing spending habits and increased competition for people's money.
He said sales had since improved with the introduction of a dedicated syndicate delivery service and keeping tickets at £2.
"Our primary objective is to maximise funding for good causes, but we are equally committed to keeping the lottery affordable and creating as many winners as possible from the available prize fund," he said.
