Donald Trump 's childhood home in New York City has sold for just under $2 million following a $500,000 renovation.

The Associated Press and the New York Post reported on Friday, Sept. 11, that the house — where the president lived until he was 4 years old, at which point the family moved into a bigger house nearby — sold for $1.93 million.

The Tudor-style residence, located in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens, was built by Trump's developer father, Fred Trump , in 1940. The sale price was disclosed after an unnamed buyer entered into a contract in July 2026.

Developer Tommy Lin purchased the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home last year for $835,000. Before that, the home sat vacant for years, and the Post reported that it sustained water damage and developed a mold issue from a burst pipe, and that feral cats were found on the property.

Speaking with The Wall Street Journal last year, Lin said the house had fallen into disrepair.

"There was no water in the house, no power," Lin told the newspaper, claiming that there was a burst pipe in the basement and that the roof was covered in mold. "It was not livable."

Lin remodeled the home for $500,000, adding luxury amenities including a chef's kitchen, herringbone wood floors and spa-like bathrooms over the course of eight months, the outlet reported.

The developer told the Journal that politics were not his motivation for purchasing the property. Instead, he hoped potential buyers would be attracted to the novelty of owning a home once lived in by a president.

The home has had an interesting history since Trump's election in 2016, including three auctions (some unsuccessful), an investor who flipped the house for profit, and a $2.14 million sale in 2017, per data listed on Zillow .

At the time the house was sold in 2017, an entity called Trump Birth Home LLC purchased the property and briefly turned it into an Airbnb rental themed around Trump, according to AP.

The home had copies of the president's book The Art of the Deal , cardboard cutouts of Trump, a framed issue of PEOPLE with the president on the cover and more.
