Flames, huge plume of black smoke seen near Riyadh airport amid Houthi strikes

Flames and a large plume of black smoke were seen rising near King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, following reported Houthi strikes, according to an eyewitness.Reuters images showed smoke rising from a fuel storage depot at the airport in the aftermath of the strikes.The cause and extent of the fire near the airport were not immediately clear. Saudi Arabia's government media office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. As per Reuters, Saudi civil defence sent the alerts by phone overnight for potential danger in Riyadh and the city of Al-Kharj east of the capital, before issuing an all-clear on Saturday morning.The Houthis, who control large parts of northern Yemen, have intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia amid the renewed conflict in Yemen.
