SP urges residents to help build a ‘Happy Madurai’

Madurai: Madurai should shed its reputation as a city associated with crime and violence, district superintendent of police N Devanathan said on Sunday, urging residents to help build a “Happy Madurai”.“It is time to change that perception. Madurai should thrive with positivity and vibrancy, and together we can make it a ‘Happy Madurai’,” he said. Devanathan said police personnel must engage with residents as equals rather than remain distant from the public. He urged people to approach police with grievances and cooperate in promoting harmony. He was addressing around 300 participants at a 4km mini marathon, “Namma Madurai... Namma Police”, organised by district police at Othakadai at 6.30am. Police personnel, students and residents participated.Separately, interacting with youths from Alanganallur and Palamedu, Devanathan warned that alcohol addiction was fuelling disputes and revenge crimes. He said police were taking preventive measures while encouraging sports and skill development. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Madurai | Silver Rate in Madurai | Bank Holidays in Madurai | Public Holidays in Madurai | Madurai AQI | Weather in Madurai | Petrol Price in Madurai | Diesel Price in Madurai | CNG Price in Madurai | LPG Price in MaduraiStay updated with the latest Madurai news.
