Newspaper headlines: Britain 'taxing itself to death' and 'Some Might Stray'

The Sunday Telegraph reports that the new shadow foreign secretary, Tom Tugendhat, has warned that Andy Burnham's plans to sanction Israel over settlements in the occupied West Bank risks jeopardising British national security. Tugendhat has told the paper that Israel is one of the UK's "most important intelligence partners", and continuing to work alongside the country would help keep people safe. Last week, the foreign secretary, Ed Miliband, said the UK would "reset" its policy on Israel.

The Sunday Times says police intelligence has been called into question after yesterday's demonstration by a large group of masked men at the Port of Dover. The paper says officers appeared to be caught by surprise when hundreds of protestors blocked roads in the area chanting anti-immigration slogans. The Sunday Mirror carries quotes from the Labour MP for Dover, Mike Tapp , saying that he'll be asking why the police appear to have had little warning of what was planned. Kent Police have said they responded to a spontaneous protest yesterday morning, and those involved had dispersed by midday.

In its editorial pages, the Sunday Telegraph describes the scenes in Dover as "chilling and unacceptable". It adds that concerns about immigration are "widespread, understandable and legitimate" but that the authorities should not permit any group, whatever its politics, to "bring chaos to the nation's streets". The Sunday Express agrees, saying there is "anger" at the arrival of small boats , but "masked men turning up en masse in Dover is not the way to solve the problem".

According to the Sunday Times, 1,000 older people a day are being admitted to hospital after experiencing reactions to cocktails of medicines. The paper says taking more than five medications is the point at which the risk of side-effects increases. This is said to be more of a concern among patients considered to be frail. The paper says the NHS is due to set out modern standards for the care of elderly patients in January.

And some of the front pages pick up on comments from Noel Gallagher that he feared last year's Oasis reunion tour would be a "disaster" - and that there was still tension between him and his brother, Liam Gallagher, before their opening gig in Cardiff. The comments have been made in a new film about their comeback shows. The Sunday Mirror says the tour was "on a knife edge" . The Sun on Sunday focuses on frontman Liam, saying he's "finally quit booze" . The catalyst for sobriety was the reunion tour. He explained that it was an experience too precious to spoil by partying.
