Organisers promise an "immersive" experience as they prepare for the event's second showing.

Organisers have promised a high quality and "immersive" experience as a light festival returns for its second year.

Bridges of Light in Worcester, set to begin on Wednesday and continue into Thursday, will feature a number of illuminated displays across the city centre.

It follows what was described as a "really successful" event in 2025 and project lead Elaine Knight, from organiser Severn Arts, said she could not wait to see people's reactions.

"It makes you really proud, it makes you really emotional and it makes you feel like the last 12 months of hard work… was really worthwhile," she told the BBC.

"It's why we do it, we're all really passionate about the arts and culture in Worcester as a city. It's really important for us that we give those opportunities for people to see work like this."

The event will be held each day from 18:00 to 21:00 GMT and is billed as having Worcester's "imagination and creativity" at its heart.

Knight said the artworks incorporated the experiences of residents, adding: "It's about local people having their stories told and having their voices heard."

She said it was important for Severn Arts to have the opportunity to provide a "high quality experience" on people's doorstep.

As well as being able to stand back and watch the displays, Knight said many of them would be interactive.

"It's really great for us to have that really immersive experience where the audience can change it for themselves and the rest of the people watching," she added.

Among the displays will be Seven Echoes, which will feature illuminations on Worcester Bridge, and an accompanying choral soundscape recorded with more than 50 volunteer singers.

There will also be a food court on Copenhagen Street, where traders will be serving refreshments from 17:00 GMT on both days.
