Trump expects Iran war to end soon after a 'very heavy attack' on provinces, Hormuz

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he did not expect the Iran war to continue for “very much longer” after a “very heavy attack” on Tuesday night.“We hit them hard last night, very hard”, Trump said as he spoke to the Reuters news agency.The US reportedly targeted newly established military equipment along the Strait of Hormuz, including radar and missile-related systems, amid fresh escalation.On Tuesday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) had confirmed that American forces completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets.According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) facilities, including air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites.Iran, however, strongly condemned the strikes and accused Washington of targeting civilian and non-military infrastructure in several Iranian provinces, with the foreign ministry stating it had responded to the attacks with "crushing defensive strikes".Tehran also alleged that the US struck a wedding celebration in Hormozgan Province, killing and leaving more than 70 casualties that were mostly women and childrenIran described the attacks as war crimes and a violation of international law, asserting its right to self-defence.Tehran responded by targeting US positions across the Middle East, including its bases in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region.Catch the latest World News and Live updates.
