Man arrested after alleged box cutter incident injures 16-year-old co-worker at restaurant, Palestine PD says

An Elkhart man was arrested after a suspected horseplay incident with a box cutter injured a 16-year-old co-worker at a Palestine Cotton Patch Café, the Palestine Police Department said.

According to a post, Jose Buenrrostro, 47, allegedly attacked the co-worker with a "bladed instrument" on Sept. 2. The co-worker sustained a cut to his arm, and it was reported that Cotton Patch management told the teen to tend to his own wound with a medical kit in the restaurant and directed him to finish his shift waiting tables. Buenrrostro remained at work.

After the shift, the teen was taken by a parent to seek medical treatment for the injury and received two sutures.

The police department was made aware of the incident on Sept. 3, and detectives then began the investigation.

An arrest warrant was obtained on Sept. 4 for Buenrrostro, and he was arrested at his home.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
