TDP MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy pledges municipal tickets for Gen-Z youth in Nellore Rural

TIRUPATI: In a political move ahead of the upcoming urban local body elections, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA representing Nellore Rural, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, announced an initiative aimed at promoting young people into active politics and governance.Addressing party workers and local residents, the legislator declared that four municipal corporation divisions within the Nellore Rural constituency will be allocated to "Gen Z" youth candidates aged between 21 and 35 years.The decision marks an attempt to break away from conventional candidate selection practices dominated by political dynasties, financial influence and senior party loyalists.Sridhar Reddy emphasised that candidates selected for these divisions will not be chosen based on political lineage, family backing or economic clout. Instead, preference will be given to educated, public-spirited and articulate young individuals who demonstrate an active understanding of local issues and a commitment to public service.The announcement comes as preparations intensify across Andhra Pradesh for municipal elections following the recent municipal division updates.In Nellore, where the total number of divisions within the Municipal Corporation has expanded to 72, with 36 of those falling under the Nellore Rural segment, the initiative guarantees dedicated youth representation in the local governing body.
