Gurgaon siblings go missing after mom’s scolding, found safe at temple

GURGAON: More than 50 police personnel scanned around 30 CCTV cameras and questioned local residents to trace two minor siblings, aged 12 and 13, who ran away from their home on Thursday after their mother scolded them. The children were found safe at a temple in Sector 37 on Friday, within 18 hours of a complaint being filed, police said.According to Gurgaon Police, the children's father, a native of Uttar Pradesh, approached Sector 10 police station on September 25 and informed that his 12-year-old and 13-year-old children were missing. Police registered a case under relevant sections and formed teams from Sector 10 police station and the Missing Persons Cell (West) to search for them.The teams checked around 30 CCTV cameras in the area and questioned local residents while searching for the siblings. Police traced the children on September 26 at Shani temple in Sector 37 and informed their family.During the inquiry, the children told police that they had left home after being scolded by their mother. They did not return home, spent the night sleeping in a park and later went to the temple in Sector 37.Police said the children were taken through the necessary procedures and counselled through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). After completing the legal formalities, the police handed them over safely to their family."We appeal to parents and guardians to keep a close watch on young children.
