Craig Carton calls out Pablo Torre for tying Tim Tebow to alleged Life Surge scam: 'Shame on you'

Craig Carton called out investigative reporter Pablo Torre for his focus on Tim Tebow in a recent report on Life Surge. Torre alleged that the Christian-focused organization used Tebow as part of a predatory business model that pressured people to hand over thousands of dollars for advice without seeing a return on their investment. Carton called Torre a "brilliant investigative reporter" but criticized him for linking Tebow to the organization’s alleged conduct without establishing that Tebow knew about it. And if you don't have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him. And if I'm Tim Tebow, I find that to be actionable. I find that to be regrettable," Carton said on a recent episode of OutKick’s "The Craig Carton Show." Tebow has since come out and said he is "pausing" his relationship with Life Surge. "I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious," Tebow told The Gainesville Sun. "And so, for us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more." Mother Jones, which collaborated with Torre on the investigation, reported that Tebow spoke at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025 and was slated to speak at about as many events in 2026. Carton took no issue with Torre’s investigation but lambasted Torre for what the longtime radio host characterized as using Tebow’s name to further his own career. Whether that story is accurate or not, I’ll take the leap of faith that you’ve reported as an allegation about this Life Surge company that it might even be accurate and factual, and we need to get involved. We need to get district attorneys involved and do a thorough, real investigation to see if they’re committing some type of predatory fraud against honest, God-fearing, blue-collar people who might be losing their life savings under the guise of religion," Carton said. "That would be awful if that's happening. But how dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others? A man that has dedicated his life to service of his Lord." Carton criticized Torre for putting Tebow in a bad spot when his reporting did not establish that the Florida Gators legend knew about or participated in the alleged conduct. Carton argued that the report forced Tebow to put out a statement and damaged his public reputation. "So, you better have this locked down, Pablo, and maybe you do, but to throw out an allegation, attach a dude's name to it? Shame on you."
