Trichy: A month after Trichy corporation warned of stringent action against the disposal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste at public spots, illegal dumping of such waste continues. This time, Uyyakondan canal’s aqueduct road, which is behind the district collectorate, has not been spared as construction debris blocks a crucial carriageway. The road built under Smart Cities Mission offers a quick link between govt offices in Cantonment and Vayalur Road covering Bharathi Nagar and Ammaiyappan Nagar. School vehicles also use the road to skip congested Vayalur Road areas. Meanwhile, unidentified people have dumped construction debris in the middle of the road just outside a corporation’s public park.“While vacant plots are cleared of construction waste, trucks casually dump large boulders and solid waste on the aqueduct road. Chicken waste is also littered near the Uyyakondan canal,” M Rajkumar, a resident of Bharathi Nagar, said. Residents blamed poor supervision and enforcement for shrinking and stinking roads. In Vayalur Road and Raja Colony areas, construction materials near building sites are stored on residential roads.Corporation sources said the encroached roads will be cleared and action will be taken against people dumping construction debris near canals and water bodies. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Trichy | Silver Rate in Trichy | Bank Holidays in Trichy | Public Holidays in TrichyStay updated with the latest Trichy news.
