Noida: Nearly four months after flight operations began from Noida International Airport, the state cabinet on Friday renamed it Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the decision was taken to mark the completion of 25 years of the PM’s public life. While the renaming will not affect the airport’s IATA code DXN, it will require changes to official name displays, branding and booking-related information.“Noida International Airport is a major gift to UP from the PM. In the coming years, this airport will take the state’s economy, industry, tourism and global connectivity to new heights. With this very sentiment, the cabinet has passed the proposal,” the CM said.Yogi also credited the PM for UP’s industrial growth, its development as a major IT hub and the expansion of social welfare schemes to cover crores of beneficiaries. He said under Prime Minister’s leadership and guidance, the state govt will continue working with full energy, sincerity and commitment to realise the resolve of ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh, Viksit Bharat-2047’.Referring to Modi’s links with UP, the CM said the PM was an elected representative from Kashi. He recalled the PM’s 2014 visit to Kashi, when he had said that “Maa Ganga has called me”. Since then, he said, the relationship between Kashi and the PM had gone beyond political representation, with a new bond emerging between the development of Kashi, its spiritual renaissance and the overall development of UP.PM completed 25 years as the head of a govt on Oct 7, beginning with his tenure as Gujarat chief minister in 2001. “This is a glorious chapter in Indian democratic history. This 25-year journey has been guided by the spirit of service, dedication and nation first,” Yogi said.Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh said renaming the airport “is a tribute to the visionary leadership that has transformed Jewar from a predominantly rural region into an emerging global aviation and industrial destination”.While Noida International Airport did not comment on the issue, Yamuna Authority and Noida International Airport Limited CEO RK Singh said they will ensure compliance with govt order. The foundation stone of the airport, developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Swiss firm Zurich Airport International AG, was laid by PM on Nov 25, 2021, and domestic flight operations began on June 15 this year after he inaugurated it. International flight operations are expected to commence in Dec this year. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Noida | Silver Rate in Noida | Bank Holidays in Noida | Public Holidays in Noida | Noida AQI | Weather in Noida | Petrol Price in Noida | Diesel Price in Noida | CNG Price in Noida | LPG Price in NoidaStay updated with the latest Noida news.
