Hazaribag: To prevent drowning incidents and ensure devotees’ safety during Durga Puja idol immersion at rivers, ponds, lakes, waterfalls and other water bodies, safety guidelines have been issued by Hazaribag District Disaster Management Authority.Authorities have been directed to identify and notify safe immersion sites based on local conditions, while immersion at unsafe or prohibited locations will be restricted. Officials have also been asked to assess water depth, currents, slippery surfaces and other potential hazards in advance. The guidelines mandate adequate barricading, lighting, warning signs and safe entry and exit arrangements at immersion sites. Wherever feasible, temporary or artificial immersion tanks should be set up to reduce entry into natural water bodies. The authority has also emphasised the deployment of trained lifeguards, divers and water rescue personnel at major immersion points. Essential rescue equipment, including life jackets, lifebuoys, rescue ropes and boats, must be kept ready.Deputy commissioner Hemant Sati urged officials and puja organisers to strictly follow the safety protocols to prevent any mishap during idol immersion.Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
