Four dead, over ten injured after car crashes into crowd of government supporters in Iran

A car crashed into a crowd of government and military supporters in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad overnight, leaving four people dead and more than 10 injured, according to multiple Iranian media outlets on Wednesday.The vehicle was moving at high speed when it collided with another car, causing the driver to lose control. The car then struck safety barriers and traffic signs before crashing into the crowd, Noor News reported, citing head of traffic police for Razavi Khorasan Province, Mohsen Mousa-Abadi.Reuters reported that the driver, who has since been arrested, was found in an abnormal state during initial checks, Mousa-Abadi said, though he did not elaborate further on the driver's condition.Authorities have classified the incident as a traffic accident and have so far found no evidence pointing to a political motive.The gathering was reportedly part of an ongoing series of events held by supporters of the Islamic Republic and its armed forces, which have taken place regularly since the war with the United States broke out in late February.Catch the latest World News and Live updates.
