Chandigarh: Haryana Congress has launched a mobilisation drive for the Nov 1 ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and an independent probe into alleged electoral irregularities.Addressing a news conference at the Pradesh Congress headquarters on Saturday, AICC general secretary in charge of Haryana Sanjay Dutt and state Congress president Rao Narender Singh accused the BJP of undermining electoral transparency and said the rally would press for accountability in the electoral process. The leaders demanded safeguards against wrongful deletion of eligible voters’ names and transparency in the addition, deletion and modification of electoral roll entries. They said the Election Commission must function independently and address concerns raised by the Opposition.Invoking the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, Dutt and Rao said the Congress had raised questions over the electoral process and results. They also cited Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ allegations, demanding a credible investigation into the concerns. The leaders said protecting voting rights was a constitutional issue, not merely a political contest, and challenged the BJP to answer questions over electoral fairness rather than dismissing the Opposition’s concerns.Mobilisation plans were reviewed by AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal in New Delhi on Oct 23. District and block unit chiefs, MLAs, former legislators, former ministers and party candidates have been asked to coordinate participation and transport arrangements. Dutt and Rao called on party workers to mobilise supporters across the state, seeking a strong turnout from every district. They also appealed to farmers, labourers, youth, students, women and other citizens to join the rally. The Congress said the Nov 1 gathering would press for electoral transparency, accountability of the poll panel and protection of every eligible citizen’s right to vote. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Chandigarh | Silver Rate in Chandigarh | Bank Holidays in Chandigarh | Public Holidays in Chandigarh | Chandigarh AQI | Weather in Chandigarh | Petrol Price in Chandigarh | Diesel Price in Chandigarh | CNG Price in Chandigarh | LPG Price in ChandigarhStay updated with the latest Chandigarh news.
