NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men at Astha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir after the accused allegedly posed as policemen and separated her from her male friend, Delhi Police said.The incident unfolded over a little more than an hour on Sunday, according to the police account.7pm: Darshan at Kalkaji MandirThe girl and her male friend had gone to Kalkaji Mandir for darshan at around 7pm, police said. After visiting the temple, the two entered the nearby Astha Kunj Park through Gate No. 7.7.30pm: Three men allegedly pose as copsWhile the two were inside the park, three men allegedly approached them and claimed to be policemen. The men allegedly separated the girl from her friend and took her towards a secluded area.One of the accused, identified as Asif, allegedly threatened the girl with a firearm and a knife before sexually assaulting her. The other two men also allegedly sexually assaulted her, police said.The three accused subsequently allegedly threatened the girl and her friend.8.45pm: PCR call triggers police actionA PCR call regarding the alleged rape was received at around 8.45pm. The SHO of Amar Colony police station and police staff reached Astha Kunj Park, where they found the girl and her friend.The girl was subsequently medically examined at AIIMS. Crime and forensic teams examined the spot and collected relevant exhibits.Based on her statement, an FIR was registered at Amar Colony police station under sections 70(2), 61(2), 115(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 6 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.Police launch hunt for accusedSeveral police teams were formed to trace the three accused during the investigation.A team led by Inspector Rajender Dagar, in-charge of the Special Staff of South-East district, received information about Asif's movement near DM Office Road in Amar Colony and laid a trap, police said.When the police team intercepted him, Asif allegedly opened fire at the officers. Police said he fired three rounds despite being asked to surrender.One of the rounds hit head constable Rajesh's bulletproof jacket. Police said the constable fired two rounds in self-defence, one of which struck Asif in his right leg.Asif was injured and taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
