Bihar Home Dept transfers Khagaria SP Bhanu Pratap Singh to police HQ after wife’s protests; Shailendra Singh posted as new SP; other IPS reshuffle.
PATNA: The Home department on Wednesday transferred Khagaria SP Bhanu Pratap Singh and called him to police headquarters following days of protest by his wife, Pooja Singh, near the CM’s residence and outside the SP’s official residence, demanding that her family be reunited. The department also transferred three other IPS officers and gave additional charge to one in an administrative reshuffle announced on Wednesday evening.According to the transfer order, Shailendra Singh, who was serving as SP in Sheohar, has been transferred to Khagaria as the new SP.Mohibullah Ansari has been shifted from Muzaffarpur City SP to Sheohar SP, while IPS officer Kumari Mamta has been given the additional charge of BMP-16.Pooja had staged a sit-in near the CM’s residence on Nov 1, seeking intervention to save her marriage. On Nov 3, she moved her protest to outside the Khagaria SP’s official residence, reiterating her demand to reunite with her husband and daughter.According to Pooja, she married Bhanu in 2016 in a love marriage, when he was living in Delhi and preparing for the UPSC examination without a job.Puja alleged that she worked as a teacher at a private school to support the household expenses and financially helped her husband during his preparation. She said Bhanu subsequently cleared the UPSC examination and became an IPS officer of the 2021-batch.Pooja alleged that her husband’s behaviour changed after he joined the IPS and that their relationship had been strained for several months. She further claimed that she had not been allowed to meet their six-year-old daughter for the past eight to nine months. “I do not want to separate from my husband, nor do I want to initiate any legal dispute. I only want my family to be together again,” she had said.Pooja said she had repeatedly approached officials seeking intervention in the matter but had not been able to resolve the dispute. Her central demand, she maintained, was to reunite with her husband and daughter and rebuild their family life.Home department’s transfer order came against the backdrop of her protests. However, the order does not specify whether the transfers are directly linked to the domestic dispute. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Patna | Silver Rate in Patna | Bank Holidays in Patna | Public Holidays in Patna | Patna AQI | Weather in Patna | Petrol Price in Patna | Diesel Price in Patna | CNG Price in Patna | LPG Price in PatnaStay updated with the latest Patna news.
