RPF returns jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh left on train to passenger
RPF at Bhojudih recovered a trolley bag with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh from Nandan Kanan Express and returned it to the owner after verification.
Bokaro: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Bhojudih recovered a trolley bag containing jewellery worth around Rs 14 lakh from Nandan Kanan Express and returned it to its owner after verification.RPF officers said the bag was traced after a passenger registered a complaint through the railway helpline 139, saying it had been left near berths 3, 4 and 6 in coach A-2 of train number 12815.Acting on the alert, Bhojudih RPF officer in-charge Bhupinder Kumar Yadav deputed a team led by ASI R P Yadav, along with head constables Lalita Kumari and Lata Kumari, to search the coach. The team found the trolley bag and took it into safe custody.According to RPF, the bag contained gold and silver ornaments, including chains, a necklace, earrings, rings, a bracelet set and anklets. The estimated value of the items was around Rs 14 lakh.Senior commandant of RPF’s Adra division, Om Prakash Mohanty, said the valuables were handed over to the owner, Ashish Kumar Pradhan of Jaleswar in Odisha, after completing verification and documentation.The recovery was made under Operation Amanat, an RPF initiative to trace and return belongings left behind by passengers on trains and railway premises.Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
