Savannah Guthrie was “touched” by Allison Janney’s supportive comments about Savannah’s missing mother following Janney’s record-tying win at the Emmy Awards. The co-anchor reacted on TODAY Sept. 15 after hearing Janney tell reporters a night earlier that Savannah’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, and Savannah’s family have been on her mind “every day.” “I was so touched to see her do that,” Savannah said. “It was her moment of her triumph, and for her to sit and just take a moment and think about our family.” There have been no major breaks in the case in the months since Nancy Guthrie, 84, went missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of Feb. 1. “I never let a moment pass if I get one to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her,” Savannah said. “And my whole family, my sister and my brother and I, and all of our extended families, are in such pain. We need help, so thank you, Allison Janney, for remembering us and for giving an opportunity to renew that call. We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye, that’s all.” Janney, 66, tied an Emmys record on Sept. 14 with her eighth statuette after winning outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for her portrayal of President Grace Penn in the Netflix series “The Diplomat.” Following her win, Janney was asked by a reporter backstage about her supportive comments over the past year for Nancy Guthrie and Savannah’s family. “I honestly can say I think about her every day and think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through,” Janney said. “It truly, it just took over — and I don’t think I’m alone, too. I think all of America was thinking about her.” Anyone with information about Nancy Guthrie is urged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). Savannah and her family are also offering a $1 million reward for the return of her mother.
