'High IQ president' is all AI needs: Trump backs US lead, blames China for 'sick conspiracy'

US President Donald Trump on Monday doubled down on his push to keep the United States ahead of China in artificial intelligence, saying AI needs a "strong and smart president" rather than additional "guardrails."In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the US was already leading China in AI and warned that the country must maintain its advantage.He wrote, "The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the USA has that, in spades!"He added, "The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, “things,“ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” - and we will continue to do so! We already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies!"Trump on his Truth Social post again targeted Xi Jinping-led China over AI, saying "There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China. WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!"In another post, Trump wrote: "The only reason the AI/Data Center outburst is happening is because the United States is leading, by a lot, every other country. Don’t kill the Golden Goose!"Trump's post came a day after he told reporters that the US was leading China in AI and should preserve its technological advantage.“We're leading China in AI. We're the most sophisticated country in the world, and frankly I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI wins,” Trump said when asked whether the AI industry should slow down or face tighter regulation.Trump acknowledged that authorities could introduce safeguards for AI but said some concerns about the technology were exaggerated.“We could put guardrails. We can do this and that.
